Meagan McGrath – solo, Patriot Hills

Initially the Canadian woman started out from Hercules Inlet at the coast, but on the second day she fell in a crevasse. Meagan and her gear was successfully retrieved by ALE’s rescue team and transported to their base camp, Patriot Hills.

After thorough consideration and consulting with polar experts, Meagan decided to carry on skiing from Patriot Hills to the South Pole.

Patriot Hills camp is situated at 80º 19' South, 81º 16' West and 1084 km from the Geographic South Pole.

Meagan, who climbed all eight summits of the Seven Summits, said in her voice report from the South Pole that the expedition was very challenging. She was very happy when she arrived at 90°S and said she was treated well at the South Pole station.
