Annapurna & North Pole heads-up: summit push delayed, NP couple close call

Strong winds have thwarted Korean Oh Eun-Sun summit attempt, scheduled for Sunday morning.

"Due to bad weather (strong winds), Miss Oh has delayed the summit bid until Tuesday, April 27th," ExWeb Korean correspondent Kyu Dam Lee reported. Eun-Sun hopes to remain in C3, although it's unclear if she has enough food and fuel.

Ehsan Partovi-Nia close calls

The Iranian climber made two trips to C3 that both ended in close calls. He nearly missed and avalanche on Thursday, and reportedly fell in a crevasse on return. Friday, he was avalanched again on the way to C3. Ehsan is back to BC with just some bruises.

North Pole couple's close call

With only 23nm to go, this morning Dan and Amelia set off to the pole in bad visibility. Scouting an open water lead to cross, they went in opposite directions to find a suitable crossing point. "I found one very quickly and started to move the pulks there waiting for Amelia to return," Dan dispatched today. When she didn't, Dan headed off following her tracks - suddenly finding her by the lead, soaking wet.

Slipping into the water Amelia had dislocated her shoulder after around ten minutes in the water trying repeatedly to get out. Dan quickly set up camp and relocated her shoulder.

Planning a final 'final' push to the pole, the two currently have 39hrs remaining until they get picked up by the Barneo Ice Base for the last flight to Svalbard.
