(Newsdesk) "A picture perfect blue sky. Everest, Lhotse, and Amadablam majestic on the horizon. Snow all around. This is paradise, another world, so beautiful it seems unreal. At night, the Moon is almost full and the Milky Way is simply amazing."

This dispatch, posted by Yuri and Laura from Makalu camp 2 today, serves to explain why those who died on Manaslu were there. That the risk they took to touch the extraordinary was not without worth.

She wouldn't trade it for money, social status, or anything else. "What more could you ask," Laura wrote, "only to be here on the mountain next to Yuri, and nothing more."

Dispatches show that except for Jagged Globe, Altitude Junkies and HiMex, Manaslu climbers are packing up and leaving for home. Total toll at this time remains at 8 climbers dead and three missing.

Many climbers and rescue workers have been key in the search and rescue efforts. In addition to teams' own reports, Fishtail Air and the Nepal Ministry have published details from the Manaslu avalanche. Find all in the dispatch and world news feeds.
