Everest 2013: Power lines, pool tables and climber's ID

Posted: Apr 25, 2013 06:41 pm EDT

(Newsdesk) Right now it's mostly about rotations in climbers' dispatches but here are some of the quirky news.

On Everest south side, each climber is now required to carry and ID card (scroll down to March 29 dispatch).

Lena from RussianClimb forwarded pics from Abramov's latest digs in the Tibetan BC.

Also on Everest north side Icelander Leifur Orn Svavarsson wrote:
“Along the road up to the base camp is being constructed powerlines and power poles have come all the way up to base camp."

"Who knows what the future holds," Leifur wrote, "in possibly rise after rise hotel with views of the highest mountain of the earth and maybe there will be oxygen hoses available for visitors.”
