(Newsdesk) Deep fog enveloped the icefall yesterday said American Cleo Weidlich. She says her Lhotse team is the only left on Everest south side and she cannot confirm rumors of a Polish fatality. The outlook for her expedition is weak in light of climbing conditions and local resistance towards the ascent Hungarian reports say. Cleo mentioned that a Russian team currently in KTM are confident they will get climbing permit and may return to BC.
Cleo is part of a Hungarian team who came to Everest south side after abandoning Shishapangma due to Chinese conflicts related to the Dalai Lama. Cleo's team mate Hungarian Zoltan Szlanko has left base camp and joined a search party in Namche Bazaar for Slovakian trekker Thomas Princzkel who reportedly went missing in Dingboche on April 21st.
The only Hungarian left on Everest is David Klein who reached over 8000 meters on Everest North side for acclimatization. Latest in ABC Klein hoped to return to BC today and attempt summit without oxygen after recovery in low altitude. Klein has two 8000's without 02 and tried Everest multiple times, reaching 8650m without 02 in 2007.
Everest north is reportedly in good shape except for the line between ABC and camp 1 which is rerouted to avoid loose ice. Most teams are done with their rounds and rest in Tingri in preparation for the summit climb.
