Video: Second 2012-13 Ilyushin-76 flight lands at Union Glacier, Antarctica

(Newsdesk) In the video below the second Ilyushin-76 flight of the 2012-13 season from Punta Arenas, Chile, lands at ALE/ANI base camp at Union Glacier, Antarctica, earlier this month.

Footage by ANI Emergency Nurse Ben Cooper. Ben was working the mirrors to locate the threshold of the runway, as well as providing medical cover. Tim Hewette is the person in the video; talking to the aircraft and giving the thumbs-up at the end. Tim is also a Vinson guide.

Union Glacier is located at 79° 45'S, 083° 14'W.
