It’s that time again for the Spanish veteran mountaineer
This spring veteran climber Carlos Soria will face the double challenge of crowning Annapurna (8,091 m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), two of the three highest mountains left to complete his quest to summit the 14 highest mountains in the world.
“I think this year we will be lucky, let’s hope so, ” says the mountaineer who attempted the peaks several times in recent years.
In terms of fatalities Annapurna shows as one of the most dangerous 8000ers, the peak is notorious for rock fall and avalanches. The ascent will be technical, demanding, risky and sustained.
Attempting Annapurna in tandem with Dhaulagiri is a tall order, to do so at the age of 77 is remarkable.
Soria is excited by the challenge: “They are two quite complicated mountains, especially Annapurna, but we will try our best to make it this year.”
