For the first time, you can attend the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival without flying to western Canada. Because of COVID-19, Banff has gone totally virtual, like many other festivals this year. You can watch 75 films and 40 online talks, panels and interviews between October 31 and November 8.
Every year, the festival tours to over 40 countries and 550 venues around the world, but that gives you only a smattering of films over one or two nights. This year, you can experience all of them. Virtual guests include Borge Ousland, speaking online from Norway about his and Mike Horn’s Arctic Ocean expedition last year. You can also watch the full 65-minute film of Andrzej Bargiel’s 2018 ski descent of K2.
Early bird tickets are $125 (Canadian) until October 15, a fraction of the usual cost of attending Banff. The full festival pass costs $150 after that.
