Shisha Pangma Update: Climbers Approaching Summit

Mingma G and at least some of his team are approaching the summit of Shisha Pangma. Their risky summit push has lasted nearly 12 hours. Base Camp sources confirm that Nirmal Purja is also pushing for the summit.

Previously, both Purja and Mingma G announced they would climb without using supplementary oxygen.

Meanwhile, everyone on the Seven Summit Treks team is back at Advanced Base Camp. They are ready to start their summit push, probably next week. Most of them spent the night in Camp 2 yesterday, as part of their acclimatization.

Seven Summit Treks says that they only found out about Purja and Mingma G’s summit plans when their climbers reached Camp 2 and saw that the others were ready to go up.

The summit team is not sharing details on their progress. However, U.S. climber Tracee Metcalfe is carrying a live tracker that shows her location.
