Annapurna: Summit Push Tonight, Tomorrow, or Both?

Lack of news from Annapurna is adding suspense of the first summit push of the season. Some climbers who reached Camp 3 (6,500m) yesterday have decided to stay there today to rest and better acclimatize, including Viridiana Alvarez.

Meanwhile, Sirbaz Khan and Abdul Joshi of Pakistan and Dawa Yangzum of Nepal have advanced to Camp 4.

It’s not clear whether the original plan to go for the summit tonight will be delayed. Preliminary reports from Mingma G of Imagine Nepal and Lakpa Dendi of Seven Summit Treks (both agencies have shared the rope fixing) suggested summiting tomorrow, an auspicious date, since it is the first day of the Nepali Year 2078. But sources from Pakistan state that Khan and Joshi are not expecting to step on the top before April 15, Thursday.
