Denis Urubko and Don Bowie are safe in camp at 7,000m on Broad Peak, ensconced in the same crevasse that Urubko used on a previous push. However, Urubko reports that Bowie is extremely sick with “pulmons”. It’s unclear whether he means flu or more seriously, pulmonary edema. After resting for the night, the two will rappel back to Base Camp tomorrow.
It was always a possibility that the illness Bowie experienced during the approach might return.
Bowie suffered from a pulmonary illness in the approach, and it was always a possibility this could return to haunt the expedition.
Dont want Urubko to come back without summit.
