Fresh from his recent attempt on Manaslu, Simone Moro is enjoying Kathmandu’s balmy 15-23ºC temperatures. And he shared dinner yesterday in one of the town’s trendy restaurants with K2 winter summiters Nirmal Purja, Mingma David Sherpa, and Mingma G. Sitting on the terrace, with their names displayed on a giant screen behind them, the four climbers enjoyed the evening as celebrities. It’s just cool to see these guys in civvies rather than down suits for once.

I bet Simone will not throw nasty words at Nims, the ex-Ghurka and SBS…
Fitting ending to an Olympic-class accomplishment.
More self promotion from Mr. Selfie. The celebrity cult is infecting the mountaineering world. Sad… Next, photo shoots for Donna Moderna.
I suggest you read mountaineering history. Ever heard of Messner. His celebrity earned him enough to buy a castle. In the modern world, all professional climbers from Honnold to Steck have used social media to advertise themselves. I guess, when a white man does it, he’s earning a paycheque, when a brown man does it, it’s “sad.”
And history will also tell you that the white man invented the whole nationalistic trends of planting flags and singing anthems at the ends of the world. What the Nepalis have done is nothing new, some might even say, they do it better.
What are your talking about? This comment is about Simone Moro. Donna Moderna is an Italian magazine. Obviously you did not get the reference and got needlessly triggered Sid. The readers of Donna Moderna would not have a clue who the other guys are 🙂 neither would they really care.
Climb K2 in winter and stay quiet… no need to judge others.
Great personalities enjoying deserved attention! Just great to see them together!
Do you get the feeling these gentlemen are trying hard to deliver a STORY? Just like politicians. Something seems apparently wrong.
Jealousy is hard, isn’t it. But you don’t need to write stuff online.
It is not jealousy my friend. Just a sad state of affairs in once a realm of dreamers. What is there to be jealous about? Having to grind out the living on the internet to get $$$ from sponsors? Hardly a dream life. Mountaineering is turning like everything else into a version of reality TV.
