Lenka Polackova Joins Everest No-O2 List

As Everest summit reports keep arriving, there are some surprises — especially about those who reached the top during the very busy days earlier this week. Among the surprises is Lenka Polackova of Slovakia, who summited without oxygen.

She did have sherpa support and husband Jan Polacek at her side. The couple reached the top with Prakash Sherpa and Sona Sherpa on May 21 at around 10:30 am local time. Polackova becomes the 10th woman to summit Everest without supplemental oxygen.

We will write more about this year’s no-O2 Everest climbers next week.
