Rope Fixers Summit Cho Oyu

The Sherpa rope-fixing team summited Cho Oyu today. Clients will follow soon.

Unlike Shisha Pangma, where different teams are following different strategies, the expeditions on Cho Oyu are all collaborating. The group that summited today included three sherpas from Furtenbach Adventures, one from Madison Mountaineering, one from Climbalaya, one from Adventure Consultants, and one from Alpenglow.

“It was nice to see old-school team collaboration to fix in potentially hazardous conditions, with good decision-making and a willingness to bail,” Adrian Ballinger of Alpenglow Expeditions told ExplorersWeb.

Lukas Furtenbach told ExplorersWeb that the rest of his team, led by Ulises Corvalan, will try to summit tomorrow. Alpenglow’s team, with Carla Perez and Topo Mena, aims for October 7-8.
