Season’s First Summits on Makalu

Sherpas fixing the route on 8,485m Makalu reached the top today. A group of climbers will follow as soon as the weather permits.

The rope-fixing team was again led by Lakpa Sherpa, a native of the valley below the mountain and known as Makalu Lakpa because of his wide experience on the fifth-highest peak on Earth.
