German alpinists, Alexander Huber and Fabian Buhl, are underway on an expedition to Pakistan where they are attempting to climb Suma Brakk via a new route. The 6166m peak overlooking the Choktoi Glacier was first climbed in 2007 by Doug Chabot, Mark Richey and Steve Swenson.

If conditions prove to be favourable, the pair will also attempt K7 (6934m), a multi-summited granite peak also in the vicinity. It remains unclear exactly what their intended lines are, however, given Huber’s longstanding experience in the Karakorum, and younger Buhl’s reputation for bold ascents on rock, an exciting outcome can well be anticipated this summer.
