Fourteen hundred days after leaving her native Germany on foot, artist Katharina Kneip has reached Saskatchewan, a Canadian Prairie province that puts her more than halfway across the country.
Kneip, 36, began in January 2023 and plans to walk, ski, and sail around the world via a northern loop, as indicated on the digital map below. She has been walking west across Canada for more than a year.

Kneip’s projected route. The yellow X roughly marks her current location.
She originally planned to paddle the Bering Strait to Russia, but considering the political situation for Westerners, she is now considering finding work on a boat from Vancouver to Asia, as she has done on previous ocean sections.
