Bad weather has thwarted the summit attempt of the large Chinese team currently on Everest. The seven climbers fixing the route to the top stopped and turned around at 8,600m, according to Mingma G, who is in regular contact with the expedition’s outfitter Yarla Shampo.
The rope-fixers had set off this morning from the highest camp at 8,300m, while the large group of surveyors in charge of climbing and measuring the mountain awaited instructions at Advanced Base Camp at 6,500m.
Meanwhile, the Chinese clients on neighboring Lakpa Ri managed to make their 7,045m summit today.
