It’s a no-go for the Huber brothers and Stephan Siegrist on the North Face of Eiger. “Spindrift and way too much unconsolidated snow slowed down our progress so that we couldn’t see a realistic chance to finish our project in good style,” Thomas Huber said.

After two days of progress on sketchy mixed terrain, with the rock increasingly ice-covered as they went higher, plus two rather cold bivouacs on the wall, the trio has aborted their attempt at a new route up the classic face.
They plan to try again in the spring.
