The Meru South climbers in India’s Garhwal Himalaya have just left Base Camp on their first-and-only summit push up the west face of 6,660m Meru South.
Mathieu Maynadier, Roger Schaeli, and Simon Gietl, accompanied by photographer Daniel Hug, were acclimatizing until this past Saturday. Since then, they have been resting and preparing for the right moment.
“The weather looks good,” Maynadier wrote, “and if all goes well, we should reach the summit by the end of the week.”
