All Dead: The Four Missing Climbers on Mont Blanc Have Perished

All four climbers who went missing in a storm on Saturday on Mont Blanc have just been found dead.

Italian and French rescue services were finally able to overfly the mountain several times today. This afternoon, the Peloton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne of Chamonix spotted the bodies of the two Italians at about 4,500m. They lay near the same place from which they had made a desperate phone call for help. According to Aostasera and ANSA, Sara Stefanelli and Andrea Galimberti were in the area of Mur de la Cote, a frozen slope that leads to the summit of Mont Blanc from the French side.

Shortly afterward, the bodies of the two South Koreans were also found.

Bad weather had prevented both helicopters and ground teams from searching yesterday.
