Expedition to Gasherbrum IV to Search for Body of Dmitry Golovchenko

A Russian team led by Sergey Nilov is currently heading to Gasherbrum IV to search the body of Dmitry Golovchenko, according to Elena Laletina of Russian Climb.

Last summer, Golovchenko and Nilov were attempting the first ascent of the southeast ridge of 7,925m Gasherbrum IV when Golovchenko suffered a fatal fall from 7,684m. Nilov miraculously descended alive. Golovchenko’s body was not recovered at the time.
