Sanu Sherpa of Nepal and Abofazl Gozali of Iran reached the summit of Makalu today, January 15, Mohan Lamsal of outfitter Makalau Adventure told ExplorersWeb.

Lamsal heard the news from the Base Camp manager. He also said that two more Sherpa climbers summited later.

Piyali Basak of India, the second client in the expedition, turned around at Camp 3 due to health issues and returned safely to Base Camp, Lamsal told The Tourism Times.

The team is expected back in Base Camp on Friday. Details to follow.
