When NASA’s rover Perseverance lands on Mars today, we won’t be able to watch it live: The technology is not quite there. But NASA will stream the countdown and landing commentary, beginning at 2:15 pm Eastern Time (7:15 pm GMT).
After the rover lands on Mars, you can follow its progress via an interactive map.
The spacecraft was launched on July 20, 2020, and has taken almost exactly seven months to reach our nearest planetary neighbor. One of the main objects of the mission is to seek signs of ancient microbial life, and conditions formerly suitable to life, as it explores the planet, taking soil and rock samples.
