Nirmal Purja has wasted no time lounging around K2 Base Camp. Taking advantage of good weather, he and his team set off earlier today, heavily loaded with 35kg backpacks holding four days of food, tents, and ropes. They reached Camp 1 for the night and intend to press on to Camp 2 tomorrow. On Tuesday, they will continue to fix ropes and acclimatize up to Camp 4.
They are not alone. Mingma G’s Sherpa team is also at Camp 1 and intends to hurry as high up as possible, while the good weather lasts and they have the mountain nearly to themselves.
John Snorri and the Sadparas continued up at a slower pace but eventually managed to reach Camp 1 as well.
It’s a snowy trek on the Baltoro, reports Sergi Mingote. Photo: Sergi Mingote
Meanwhile, the Seven Summit Treks mega-group has reached Goro II on their approach trek in sunny, calm, but very cold weather.
Wow!
Good luck, Nims and Geljen! BE SAFE!
Disliker, you want them to die? You are a filthy person.
This is disgusting!
John Snorri tracker shows Camp 1 as well: https://eur-share.inreach.garmin.com/GCGB5
That’s right, he posted an update on his instagram, he has the small garmin with him.
Thanks, we’ve updated the story. When it was initially published, they were only at ABC.
This guy gets stuff done!
A couple more nice days, then the forecast is for WIND.
Good luck. SUMMIT! GET DOWN SAFE
I love your articles and all the updates. I’m excited to see if they reach the summit.
We wish them good luck, it seems the teams are in a great hurry, undoubtedly they are fit and strong and professional, but k2 approach this way is quite an experience for the future, prayed for everyone to stay safe!
According to latest from Sergi Mingote, their weather window ends around Jan 5, so they are going to try to go as fast as possible now.

My profound respect to Purja and his team of Nepali climbers. I am quite sure they will do the winter climb of K2 in record time.
Best of luck 😇😍
All the best to the team. You will do it.
