Watch: Skiers Tame Otherworldly Couloirs

Ever seen a line quite like this? Neither have I. In the short video, three skiers tackle three couloirs high in the mountains of Switzerland.

The couloirs are separated by dramatic, knife-edged ridges. The sense of urgency those steep walls provide, combined with the extreme wide angle and chillaxed background music, give the whole thing a deceptively peaceful, groovy feel.

The video might be a year old, but that doesn’t make it any less spectacular. Gear company Mammut posted the vid to its Instagram account under the auspices of “Sunday morning inspiration,” and credits an Instagram user named Sami Ortlieb for the shot.

“Been looking at this one for a while and it finally worked out,” Ortlieb claims in the video description on Instagram.

Check it out for yourself and see if Ortlieb’s patience was worth it.
