Watch Orcas Teach a Calf To Hunt by ‘Subduing’ Dolphin

In this brief clip, a pod of orcas injure and demobilize a dolphin so that a calf can practice the hunt.

The orcas harass the dolphin, eventually sending it airborne with the flick of a menacing, black nose.

“That’s basically the adult orcas subduing the dolphin so that the younger calf can have a chance to practice its hunting techniques,” says Domenic Biagini, boat captain of a whale tourism business in San Diego, Calif.

We’ve all gotta learn somehow.
