Pakistan: Summit Push on Trango II; K2 Season Approaching

Eneko Pou, Iker Pou, and Fay Manners don’t give up! Today, the Pou Brothers announced that the team has started a summit push on Trango II (6,237m).

The climbers are motivated but the conditions aren’t great. Fast-changing weather means there is no guarantee of success. However, with their time on the towers running out, they’re keen for a last throw of the dice. It’s not clear if the fourth member of the team, Andres Marin, has joined the three climbers to push for Trango II.

Czech climbers Pavel Korinek, Tomas Petrecek, Radoslav Groh, and Pavel Bem have started their approach trek to 7,453m Muchu Chhish, where they hope to complete a first ascent. The team was in Skardu yesterday.

According to Petrecek, their first goal is to acclimatize on the south of Spantik (7,027m), which is the easier route up the mountain. There may be no further news from the Czech team for two weeks.
