It seems the fifth highest peak (Puncak Yamin) was in fact climbed in 2018 by an Indonesian expedition. That still leaves the sixth highest unclimbed. . .

Could have said Aconcagua is the highest mountain outside the Himalayas.
But Mt Epperly is ‘only’ around 4512m, as we made the 3rd ascent (#1&2 both by Loretan) in 2008 and measured it. The 4th and 5th highest are either Mt Gardner (which we measured at 4573m in 2005) or Mt Kirkpatrick 4528m, which, being in the Transantarctic Mountains was too far away and expensive for us to get to 😉
Thanks for all of your feedback. @Ipgon – we have added in your fact, thanks. @Kay – thanks for pointing this out. For this piece, we’ve listed it as Oceania as this is the same term used on some Seven Summits lists. @anonymous – Thanks for this. We have made a correction to the piece based on this. Although, we haven’t listed Ngga Pulu or Carstenz East as they are all in close proximity to one another (and Sumantri and Ngga Pulu are in the same sub-range). Although we’ve added Trikora and Ngga Pilimsit to the list. @damiengildea – Excellent,… Read more »
The list for Oceania is not complete. All five highest peaks are in West Papua and the fifth highest remains unclimbed at this point. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest_mountains_of_New_Guinea
(Also it’s more accurate to call it the Australian continental plate than Oceania)

And you need Sumantri in before Mandala

Sumanatri is generally regarded as a sub summit of Puncak Jaya . Strangl climbed it “just in case” (along with a number of other “just in case” peaks)
