British rock climber and mountaineer Leo Houlding is heading to 2,015m Mount Asgard on Baffin Island with two partners, Wilson Cutbirth and Waldo Etherington.
In 2009, Houlding and his partners of that time, including late Sean “Stanley” Leary, skydived in Baffin Island, then landed on the glacier near Asgard. Houlding and Leary ascended the northwest face of the northern tower in bigwall style and BASE jumped from the top. The film on the expedition, The Asgard Project (2009) documents their project.
“Today I return to Mount Asgard as a family man, with new friends and a wealth of hard-earned experience,” wrote Houlding on social media leaving. “Without Stanley [Leary] or any parachutes, but daring the same dream of extreme adventure, friendship, good times and hard free climbs.”
