“The long approach”u2028

8 Sep, 15 – 19:30

u2028u2028″I write the dispatch tonight perched on a small ledge with a raging waterfall nearby. We have finally broken free from the glaciated valley floor we have been on, and are now on the way to our base camp near to the peaks we are aiming to climb.u2028u2028

The terrain is very rugged, difficult and is not letting up, but at least we are in climbing mode now, fixing ropes, route finding up this massive step up near Parcharmo and the Tashi Lapsa pass. We got a load of gear to our valley today and descended back to our ledge camp, where we cranked the tunes and cooked dinner.

It is just Eric and myself now, all our Sherpa team is back down in Na, and we miss them but are happy to be moving independently. More soon.”

Other 8000er expeditions in Himalaya are either trekking to their base camps (Everest, Annapurna) or building routes (Makalu, Manaslu).
