Peter Hamor, Marius Gane and Horia Colibasanu arrived yesterday at Kangchenjunga Base Camp (5,400m). It remains unclear if the trio will only climb the normal route or do the traverse to Yalung Kang.
Hungarian Csaba Varga wants to climb Kangchenjunga without oxygen or a personal Sherpa. This will be his second attempt. In spring 2018, Varga reached 8,100m. He has already climbed five 8,000’ers.
Another Hungarian, Szilard Suhajda, is approaching Everest Base Camp. Today, he reached 5,000m. He aims to climb Lhotse without supplementary O2.
Kenton Cool arrived in Nepal, ready for Everest. The UK guide has already summited Everest 15 times, a non-Sherpa record. He is also the first person to climb Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse in one season. Last year, he guided a client to the top of K2.
Kami Rita also returns to Everest. The legendary Sherpa has summited the world’s highest peak an astonishing 25 times. He will lead the Sherpa fixing team to the summit.
Well-known Pakistani climber Abdul Joshi also has his sights set on Everest.
Yesterday, in Dhaulagiri Base Camp, Carlos Soria celebrated the Nepali New Year and the puja. He aims to start his climb tomorrow if weather permits.
