Jorge Diaz-Rullo Opens Fiendishly Hard Route in Spain

Spanish pro climber Jorge Diaz-Rullo recently sent two new world-class lines on the wall of Raco de la Finestra in Margalef, Spain, west of Barcelona.

After climbing the notoriously difficult ‘Bibliographie’ in France last month, he sent the two new combinations on the north-facing Spanish wall: Samfaina Para el Mundo (9a+/b) and La Presencia del Gancho (9a). Samfaina was first climbed in 2010 by American Chris Sharma.

“It’s always fun to climb a combination to end the day or on those days when you’re tired or want to train,” said Diaz Rullo afterward.

Diaz-Rullo likes connecting lines, and he has finished all the combinations here. But he will continue working on two other lines: Perfecto Mundo and Cafe Colombia.

“I’m really happy to have left a total of seven first ascents on this wall,” he concluded.
