Two Alpinists Seeking First Ascents in Western Nepal

Fredrik Strang of Sweden and Sindre Kolbjornsgard of Norway have come to remote western Nepal to look for first ascents in the Karnali and Chandi ranges.

The pair has spent months preparing to climb some virgin 6,000’ers in the area. Strang told ExplorersWeb he’ll report on the expedition after they return. Strang did throw out a hint, however, saying that they passed Saipal Peak (7,031m) on their way to base camp. He has also posted a photo of one of their targeted peaks (no name attached) on social media:

Like many other teams currently in Nepal, they are finding difficult conditions due to deep, soft snow after the recent storms. Still, they summited an unclimbed 5,177m peak on Tuesday. Their main goals will have to wait until conditions improve.
