Andrzej Bargiel and his team left Base Camp at 4 am Nepal time today, beginning their push to the summit. They wanted to cross the hazardous Khumbu Icefall during the coldest hours, before the sun makes the ice more unstable. Their destination today is Camp 2.
They have not revealed their schedule, but since Bargiel is climbing without supplementary oxygen, he will need to stop at Camp 3 and Camp 4. The highest point he reached so far, during his previous acclimatization, was slightly below the South Col, at around 8,000m.
